Nena LaMarre
Accompanist
Nena LaMarre has performed over the past forty years as a soloist, recitalist, collaborator and teacher. During her varied career, she has been the winner of many top awards as a soloist and chamber musician. She received a scholarship to study with Boris Berlin at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, earning an ARCT in both piano performance and teaching. She continued her studies at the University of Western Ontario, obtaining a Bachelor of Music with honours in piano performance.
Nena has been invited as a guest teacher to Concordia and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Universities as well as many summer institutes and private studios. She is a workshop clinician and adjudicator from time to time. She currently resides in Barrie, where she maintains a piano studio active in the community. She is the accompanist for King Edward Choir as well as the pianist at Central United Church.
Nena is the vice-president of the Barrie branch of the Ontario Registered Music Teacher’s Association and is the Piano Representative on the board of the Ontario Suzuki Association. She is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and is currently working to complete her Suzuki Teacher Trainer certification, in order to share her expertise in teaching piano to young children.
