Mentorship Program

King Edward Choir is a long-established choral group with a reputation for fine performances in a variety of musical styles from the classics and sacred, to folk and contemporary.   Our season usually includes three to four concerts. We also perform at special events and collaborate with other musical groups from Barrie and the surrounding area.

The Choir is pleased to offer our Mentorship Program to full time high school, college and university students.

This program will provide you with:

  • an opportunity to learn and sing with our experienced choristers under the direction of Barbara McCann and choir vocal coach Susan Cowan
  • the experience of performing with us in one or more of our concerts
  • a choir member to act as your mentor and help you feel comfortable
  • volunteer hours based on your assistance with concert set up or other duties, and
  • an opportunity to earn a letter of referral that may be used if you intend to continue in music in your post secondary education.

Your commitment will include:

  • a deposit of a minimum of $25 to be refunded when all music is returned in acceptable condition
  • consistent attendance at regular rehearsals on Mondays at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 170 Steel Street, Barrie from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm and additional rehearsals as scheduled by the director
  • individual practice with the assistance of practice CDs provided at nominal cost, and
  • enthusiastic sale of tickets for the performance in which you participate.

If you are interested in this program, please contact Director Barbara McCann at 726-2095 or barbmccann@bell.net to schedule an audition.
