*Pre-Season Special Remembrance Day Concert
The King Edward Choir and the Cantabile Chorale of Thornhill are joining forces in Barrie this time to present Karl Jenkin's The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace. This stirring, poignant piece celebrates 2500 years of mankind's quest for peace and need to be called to arms. The lyrics are based upon poetry through the ages; from an anonymous Call to Arms penned in 300 B.C. to an Arabic Call to Prayers. It also includes the poetry of Kipling, Dryden and Lord Tennyson. It is a dramatic, energetic presentation for double-choir, three trumpets, string quintet, organ, piccolo and percussion. It has been described as containing "melodies that make shivers run through your body" to "one of the most amazing pieces of music I have ever heard". Don't miss out on this one-of-a kind opportunity to celebrate Remembrance Day in a truly unforgettable way.
Tickets are $20 each. This is not part of the Choir's Concert Series.
